(40) duck reach

60 Great Short Walks Tasmania Australia - National Parks and World Heritage SitesThe Duck Reach walk starts in Launceston itself and runs through the Cataract Gorge Reserve an on to the historic Duck Reach Power Station Museum.

Walkers can start At Kings Bridge if they choose, or at the swing bridge at Cataract Gorge, off Basin Road, a few hundred metres further up the track.

Despite being rated Level 3, this is a relatively short and easy walk (just 3km one way). It is suitable for children, and people of most fitness levels will have no problems whatsoever. There are some short uphill sections and about 200 steps. However, for anyone not prepared to undertake the return walk, you can arrange a car pick-up at the Duck Reach track exit at Corin Street.

To fully enjoy this walk, we must remind you to take the usual precautions and dress for the weather and ensure you have sun protection in place.

Note. Because of the proximity to cliffs and water, children must stay behind the safety fences at all times.

NO pets, firearms, bicycles or skateboards are permitted.

Facilities:
Note that at the Gorge grounds there are toilets, a snack kiosk, drinking water, picnic facilities, swimming pool and changing rooms. There is also a Great Walks sign outlining the route.

Vehicle Access:
Parking is in Basin Road, West Launceston and a pathway leads into the Cataract Gorge grounds. If coming from King’s Bridge, parking will have to be found on the adjacent streets.
