(30) enchanted walk

60 Great Short Walks Tasmania Australia - National Parks and World Heritage SitesThe magical Enchanted Walk certainly is just that for many people. This is a short (just 1.1km) circuit and is an easy walk for people of all ages. The walk takes you through a strange and beautiful forest complete with the quite surreally beautiful old rainforest with its moss-covered trees. Moss and lichen also cover the forest floor in many areas, creating a soft spongy carpet. Walkers will see wombat burrows set just off the edge of the track, and everyone will enjoy the cascading beauty of Pencil Pine Creek which flows through the very centre of the walking circuit.

The Enchanted Walk is graded at Level 2, which is regarded as an easy walk for people of most levels of fitness. Level 2 tracks generally have occasional steps and a formed gravel or hardened surface.

As with all wilderness walks, those intending to use the track should make sure that they have suitable footwear and clothing, including sun hat, sun block and sunglasses, along with a jersey and/or jacket. The weather here can be exceptionally changeable, with wind, rain and snow occurring in any month of the year.

Walkers should allow 20-minutes to complete the 1.1km circuit.

Pets and firearms and bicycles are not permitted in the park.

Park entry fees DO apply.

Facilities:
There are picnic and toilet facilities at the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre near the start of the circuit.

Vehicle Access:
Follow Cradle Mountain Road towards Dove Lake and the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre is reached immediately after crossing Pencil Pine Creek.
