(27) montezuma falls

60 Great Short Walks Tasmania Australia - National Parks and World Heritage SitesAt 104 metres, Montezuma Falls is one of the highest and most photographed waterfalls in Tasmania and for good reason - they are spectacular.

To reach the falls, you have an easy 4km walk through beautiful rainforest along the route of the former North East Dundas Tramway. The walk is graded at Level 2, which means that it is considered an easy one, suitable for most levels of fitness. Note that level 2 tracks generally have occasional steps and formed gravel or hardened surface. The track takes you right to the very base of the falls.

Walkers should ensure that they have sturdy walking shoes or boots plus a sun hat, sun block, sunglasses and clothes suited to the weather conditions on the day.

Allow 3-hours for the return walk. This time is calculated on maintaining an easy, comfortable pace. It naturally does not take into account time spent resting, picnicking or of course taking photographs of the falls and park surrounds. Do remember your camera.

Firearms are prohibited. However, dogs are allowed on the track providing they are on a leash, and bicycles are welcome. The track is a favourite for mountain bikers.

Park entry fees DO NOT apply.

Facilities:
Picnic and toilet facilities and shops can be found in Rosebery approximately
6.5kms from the start of the walk.

Vehicle Access:
From Roseberry follow the signs to Williamsford and Montezuma Falls on the Murchison Highway (A10).
